POPOVO
Popovo is a small town, situated in the north-eastern part of Bulgaria, in the Danube plain. It is surrounded by the Popovo hills.
Popovo is aroused in 1573 and it is called Pop Alagioz, but later is renamed Popkioi. The settlement is pronounced town on 10.06.1883 with a decree of Prince Alexander II. Today this is Popovo’s celebration day.
In Popovo live about 20 000 people. At the moment, in the town most developed branches are agriculture and light industry, mostly the tailoring companies. There are also a few industrial companies and in the last couple of years village tourism is developing.
Although Popovo is small town, there are a lot of cultural activities in it: “Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii” community centre, “Severniache” Folk Dance Group, dance formation “Char”, classic and modern dances studio, vocal trio “Agra”
Historical museum is collected everything, that is connected to the town’s history.
Resting places for citizens of Popovo are Public Garden as well as many pleasant parks.
